Local Culture
Events and Festivals

The Full Moon Party is a place to meet people from all around the world. Thousands of delirious travelers dance to beats on a "paradise" beach in the moonlight. Or they sit in the sand at small tables with friends sharing a "Thai whiskey set" with local spirits like Mekong or Sang Som. Try a chilled Thai beer e.g. Singha or Beer Chang. You can also find Heineken, Tiger, and Corona available in many of the bars and restaurants and of course non-alcoholic beverages such as fresh fruit juices, fruit shakes or soft drinks.
If you are a heavy dancer, don’t forget to drink plenty of water so you won't end up dehydrated. Tasty traditional Thai foods as well as pasta, pizza, burgers, salads, soups are on offer in restaurants and in food stalls. Prices are very reasonable.
Local Food
Chaweng Restaurants & Dining

Whether right on the beach or located along the bustling main tourist strip, Chaweng has dining options for every conceivable budget and palate. (Read a review of Olivio Restaurant). Fresh exotic vegetables and locally caught seafood provide the basis for the deliciously spiced Thai dishes you can sample around Chaweng.

Bophut Restaurants & Dining

Bophut is one of the best places to eat on Koh Samui, especially if its a romantic evening you're after. Away from the crowds of Chaweng but still with plenty of choice of restaurants and cuisine, Bophut offers the best of both worlds. Fisherman's village houses several funky restaurants and pubs, while dining on the beach gives beautiful views of Koh Phangnan and Koh Tao
